The Process

My friend Alaina at school and I were talking once about how messy my dorm is. Honestly, I don't even know how it happens. I guess I'm slightly ADD. I will start a project, and five minutes later, be inspired to start another and so on. It's like a domino effect. Soon enough, the clutter has taken over my space. Alaina calls my messiness my 'Process.' The term has been something that has been popping up in my mind for some time now, and when she said it, it clicked.
The Process is everything. It is the birth and creation of something new, it is the time spent after the initial idea, and before our decision to stop. It is making mistakes, and figuring something new out while what seems like aimless wandering...screwing up, re-doing, erasing, ripping, patching, sewing. The Process is the humanity behind every project, an is what I am most interested in capturing in my Artist Spotlight posts. The most interesting part of art to me is the collective span of time before the end result. The part that is not obvious or even spoken about.

Make It Happen

It's down to the last few weeks of school for me, which means scrambling to make sure all of my final projects and papers are complete. Extra stress has been added to my load because I am going to London the day after I get out, which means I have to be moved out of my room by then. I just keep telling myself to push forward, and make it happen. I will be UK-bound soon enough.

Inside the World of Ginny Slim // Tami Snodgrass

I have been following the journey of Tami Snodgrass (AKA Ginny Slim) for several years now through her clothing brand, Sugarhigh Lovestoned. While her friend and co-creator, Chloe Chippendale is launching a new project, Tami remains at the helm, constantly coming up with new designs and tshirt illustrations for future capsule collections. She was recently featured in an article on Houzz, where she let readers in her Maui jungle bungalow through the photography of Ashley Camper. This surfer babe's little world consists of a lofted bedroom with a view, a semi outdoor kitchen in the shade, and a backyard shower perfect for after a morning surf session. Illustrations are posted on the walls, while clothing and accessories are slung and hung throughout.
This girl has me aching for an endless Summer, for sure!
